      Warkworth

Warkworth (left) 40 miles (56 km) north of Auckland, sits astride State Highway One. Situated at the head of the Mahurangi River, it serves a rich farming community and near-by beach towns. Surrounded by rolling hills and native bush, Warkworth is one of New Zealand's most picturesque spots and the author's former home town.
